Richard P. 'Mr. B.' Bopp
Richard P. “Mr. B.” Bopp, 75, of Butler died Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Feb. 10, 1938, in Butler, a son of the late John A. and Emily P. Valentine Bopp.
He was employed by Pullman Standard Car Manufacturing Company in Butler for 19 years. He later worked for Hunter Truck Sales in their maintenance department, retiring in 1999, following 15 years of service.
Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He had served following the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Beall Bopp, who he married on Nov. 25, 1989; his daughter, Mrs. Kimberly (Anthony) Grasso of Constantine, Mich.; his three sons, Douglas A. (Lori) Bopp of Westminster, Md., Fred Lyon of Washington, Pa., and Roy (Amy) Lyon of Sarver; his brother, Regis J. (Donna) Bopp of Butler; his two sisters, Mrs. Patricia (Bill) Burns of Butler and Carolyn Malinak of Butler; and his five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sondra Hoover Bopp, who passed away on June 27, 1988, and by his three brothers and two sisters.
BOPP — The friends of Richard P. “Mr. B.” Bopp, who died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Merry Meloy, pastor of Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.The Bantam Marine Detachment 743 of Butler will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
