CRANBERRY TWP — Jeff Forward is the new bureau editor of the Cranberry Eagle.
In that position, he oversees the news operation of the newspaper.
He is an Ohio native from the Columbus area and is an Ohio State University graduate.
He recently worked at the Hampton Chronicle in Hampton, Iowa, as editor/reporter.
Forward had worked in California at these newspapers: The Elk Grove Citizen in Elk Grove as the editor; The Daily Democrat in Woodland as the city editor; The Daily Republic in Fairfield as a reporter; and The Appeal-Democrat in Marysville as a reporter.
He is a former soccer coach and is a soccer referee. He also is a member of Kiwanis.
Forward, who moved to Cranberry Township, replaces Kris Smith.
PITTSBURGH — On Nov. 22 Baierl Automotive President Lee Baierl presented a check for $30,000 to the American Cancer Society's Coaches vs. Cancer program.University of Pittsburgh men's head basketball coach Jamie Dixon and assistant coach Barry Rohrssen, Duquesne University women's head coach Dan Burt and Robert Morris University men's head coach Andrew Toole, joined cancer society specialist of distinguished events Lia Stahl for the presentation.Stahl said, “Lee Baierl and his team have been very generous supporters, and we count ourselves lucky to have them engaged with us in this fight.”Since 2009, Baierl Automotive has committed more than $125,000 to the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative as well as being a sponsor of the Tip-Off Madness Reception in October at Heinz Field.
CENTER TWP — Shoe Sensation is helping people in need around the world through a holiday giving program.From Dec. 3 to Dec. 9, Shoe Sensation, which has a store the Clearview Mall, will help Soles4Souls, a global not-for-profit institution that fights poverty, by accepting donations on behalf of Soles4Souls.Individuals making a donation of $1 or more during the drive will be rewarded with 10 percent off their purchase of a single item at Shoe Sensation. The donations will go to the charity, which collects new and used shoes and clothes.
