Pauline Slupe

Pauline M. Slupe, 83, of Butler passed away Saturday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on Feb. 4, 1930, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Omar W. Hartzel and Inez P. Byers Hartzel.

A graduate of Butler High School, Pauline attended Butler area schools for 12 years with perfect attendance.

She was a homemaker. She previously worked at Flowers by Twila, where she serviced weddings. She also was previously employed as a cook at the YWCA and at the Dietary Department of the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Pauline was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Butler. She taught Sunday school, she participated in the Stephen Ministry, and she was on the Cradle Roll of the church.

She also was a member of the American Legion Post 683 Ladies Auxiliary of Cabot.

She enjoyed traveling and getting together with her family.

She is survived by her husband, James L. Slupe, who she married on Oct. 27, 1962; her son, Robert W. Slupe and his wife, Cathy, of Butler; her daughter, Sandra M. Posey of Butler; and her five grandchildren, Brian J. Posey and his wife, Jenna, of Dayton, Ohio, April M. Fair and her husband, Steven, of Butler, Nicole P. Posey and her companion, Sam A. Petrigni, of Butler, Shawn C. Slupe and his wife, Tina, of Butler and Daniel P. Slupe of Portersville. She is also survived by her five great-grandchildren, Matthew and Meghan Posey of Dayton, Ohio, Steven “Bubba” and Ashlyn Fair of Butler, and Gary Petrigni of Butler.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David W. Hartzel, who passed away April 27, 1986, and her sister, Margaret E. Taggart, who passed away July 1, 1982.

SLUPE — The friends of Pauline M. Slupe, who passed away Saturday, Oct. 26. 2013, will be received at the Martin Funeral Home, Inc. 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.The services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Pat Nelson of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Burial Estates.For more information, go to www.martinfh.net.
