Josephine T. “Jay” Vavro, 99, of Butler passed away Friday at VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born on May 14, 1914, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Rosario and Raffiela Visconte Catizone.

She was formerly employed at the Spaide Shirt Factory.

She was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by her son, Ronald Vavro and his wife, Janice, of Butler, and her two grandchildren, Kirby Vavro of Morgantown, W.Va., and Heather Kelly and her husband, Keven, of Butler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry T. Vavro, who passed away March 2, 1991; her brother; and her three sisters.

VAVRO — The friends of Josephine T. “Jay” Vavro, who passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, will be received at the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
