SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University's soccer teams have landed six players on the Daktronics all-region squad.
Stephen Donnelly, Joshua Gray and Declan Brennan were selected from the men's team. Gray anchored The Rock defense, Donnelly was SRU's leading scorer with with 18 points and center back Brennan also scored four goals.
All three were first-team selections.
Defender Lauren Impey and forward Andrea Felix are first-team choices from the women's team. Impey was also named an Academic All-American. Felix scored 10 goals and had five assists.
Midfielder Allison Hobart made second team all-region, scoring two goals and adding three assists.
WILBERFORCE, Ohio — Butler graduate Katresa Savisky scored 16 points — all in the second half — to help the Point Park University women's basketball team post a 77-68 victory Monday night at Wilberforce.The Pioneers are 8-0 on the season.
ADAMS TWP — Ten Mars varsity football players have been named first team All-Greater Allegheny Conference.The list includes defensive lineman Marshall Robinson, linebackers John King and Jason Lozzi, defensive back Travis Ganter, punter Matt White, tight end Nolan Skirtich, fullback Josh Schultheis, quarterback Owen Nearhoof, guard King, tackle Gabe Spurlock and kicker Matt White.Knoch defensive lineman Sam Whalen and tackle Conner Shinsky also made first team.Second-team selections include Knoch defensive lineman Shinsky, defensive back Asa Adams, punter Jim Larrimer, tight end Brennan McTighe and guard Colin McTighe, and Mars' running back and all-purpose player Lozzi.
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — Butler graduate Matt Goettler has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the second time as a swimmer at St. Bonaventure University.Goettler finished second in the 200-yard breast stroke and swam a leg of the Bonnies' second-place 400-yard medley relay in the team's recent loss to Cleveland State.
LAFAYETTE — Mars graduate and Lafayette College sophomore place-kicker Ryan Gralish has been named All-Patriot League second team.Gralish was successful on nine of 11 field goal attempts and 36 of 38 PATs this year for the league champion Leopards, who compete in the NCAA playoffs this Saturday.
