Ruth Marie Bowser Wright

Ruth Marie Bowser Wright, 90, of Slippery Rock, Slippery Rock Township, Butler County, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Saturday at her home.

She was born on April 6, 1923, in Renfrew to Henry J. Bowser and Hazel Marie Nicholas Bowser.

She married Merle Myers Wright on April 11, 1953, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 2012.

She was a homemaker and had worked for a few years as a custodian at Slippery Rock High School.

She loved Red Birds, grand cat, grand dog, her music, and Grizzly Adams. She enjoyed visits from her friends and neighbors on Crestview Road. In the past she enjoyed baking, knitting, crocheting, gardening, her plants, music, in particular Andre' Rieu and Andre' Bocelli, and caring for her home. She was a member of the Zion Baptist Church, Worth Township, Butler County.

Survivors include her two daughters, Yvonne R. Wright of Slippery Rock and Janine M. Sires and her husband, Randy, of Slippery Rock; her sister, Joann and her husband, Ted Matthias, of Harrisville; her brother, Glenn Bowser of San Angelo, Texas; her niece, Donna Davies, and her nephew, Mike Matthias.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her two brothers, Jim and Earl Bowser.

The family is very grateful to her loving caregivers, Marian Harley and Mary Jane Currie and her daughter, Lauren Rice, who she dearly loved as a daughter and granddaughter. Greatly appreciated are Dr. Michael McDonald, the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice Cabot and at Autumn Grove, Harrisville.

WRIGHT — The family of Ruth Marie Bowser Wright, who passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, will receive friends at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.The funeral services will be at the funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Thomas Memling, pastor of the Zion Baptist Church. Interment will be at Zion Baptist Cemetery, Worth Township, Butler County.The memorial contributions may be made to the New Building Fund for the Slippery Rock Rescue Team, P.O. Box 117, Slippery Rock, PA 16057 or to Feed My Sheep Food Cupboard, 324 N. Main St. Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
