Providence Plantation, a center for living history presentations about frontier life, will host an 18th century style candlelight dinner and interpretive program from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 7. The plantation is at 300 Textor Hill Road, Evans City. The cost for this three-hour event is $30 for adults and $5 for children under 12. The registration deadline is Sunday. Call 724-538-8818.

Harmony Museum, 218 Mercer St., Harmony, will have a historical program beginning at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 30 in Stewart Hall. A hike will commemorate the 260th anniversary of a trip George Washington took before the birth of the United States. Guided hikes will begin at 10 a.m. and continue every 45 minutes until 1 p.m. According to history, Washington and his scout camped out on the north side of the Connoquenessing Creek. Drake Well Museum, 202 Museum Lane, Titusville, will host a lecture today on “P.C. Boyle — The Voice of Early Oil and the Original Anti-Fracker — and the Roberts Brothers” by author and historian William Brice. This installment of the museum's annual Heritage Lecture Series will begin with light refreshments at 6 p.m. Admission is $5 for those ages 12 to 64 and $4 for senior citizens. Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, 1 Schenley Park, in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre will combine two traditions at 6 and 7:30 p.m. Friday for Poinsettias and Pointe Shoes — which will bring vignettes of the “The Nutcracker” ballet to Phipps' glasshouse in Oakland. The interactive free-flight show “Beaks!” runs daily at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. through Jan. 1; this show is $5 in addition to the regular cost of admission, which is $13 for adults, $12 for senior citizens, $11 for children ages 2 to 18, and free for children younger than 2.
