Ronald J. Neupauer
Ronald J. Neupauer, 75, of Ellwood City passed away Tuesday evening at Ellwood City Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born on Feb. 1, 1938, in Pittsburgh to the late Nicholas Neupauer Sr., who died on May 6, 1978, and the late Julia R. Kibelbek Neupauer, who passed away on March 11, 1959.
The family came to Ellwood City in 1941.
Mr. Neupauer served in the U.S. Army from October 1956 to October 1958, when he and seven friends volunteered to join the service.
Ronald was married to the former Laura Crowther, who survives. Mr. Neupauer graduated from Lincoln High School in 1956, and joined the army after graduation. He attended Geneva College from 1959 to 1962, where he lettered in football, playing for three years. He also worked at the former Halstead-Mitchell in Zelienople, as a machinist. He attended and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in education from Slippery Rock State College in 1970. He was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an international honorary society, and was awarded a graduate fellowship for a master's degree in special education and graduated summa cum laude. He taught at the Midland schools, where he also coached football and basketball. Mr. Neupauer also taught in the Ambridge Junior High School. He enjoyed drag racing and restoring old cars, attending a multitude of car cruises over the years.
He was Catholic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Julia Neupauer, who passed away on May 6, 1947, and his brother, Nick Neupauer Jr., who passed away on July 8, 2000.
In addition to his wife, Laura, he is survived by his son, Jon Neupauer of Ellwood City, and his two daughters, Julia Taylor-Davis of New Castle and Stacey Barile of Ellwood City. He also is survived by five grandchildren, Jessica and Justin Neupauer of Ellwood City, Travis Neupauer of North Carolina and Joshua and Zachary Taylor of New Castle; his two great-grandchildren, Hanna and Kaylea Neupauer of Ellwood City; his two nephews, Dr. Nicholas and Michael Neupauer, as well as three great nieces and one great nephew.
NEUPAUER — Per his wishes, funeral services for Ronald J. Neupauer, who passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, will be private.
