Marketing firm has sold county nursing homes before
The Chicago firm hired by Butler County last week to market the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for sale already has done the same for more than 20 other facilities.
Joshua Jandris, senior investments associate for Marcus & Millichap, said his company has marketed 23 county-owned nursing homes in various states.
Butler is the fifth county in Pennsylvania the company has marketed. Nursing homes in Blair, Beaver, Carbon and Cambria all have been sold or are in the process of being sold.
Jandris said all the bidders for Sunnyview would be vetted.
“The idea is not to just go with the highest bidder,” he said.
According to Jandris, the goal is to select a company that will carry on the mission of the county to help those in need.
Marcus & Millichap is using $13.2 million as a preliminary minimum bid based on Sunnyview’s size.
The firm receives 2.5 percent of the sale price, but does not get paid if there is no sale. Under the minimum price, the company would be paid $330,000.
