Christopher B. Stock Jr., 81, of Butler passed away Tuesday in Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born on Jan. 9, 1932, he was the son of the late Christopher B. and Leopoldina “Goldie” Huslinger Stock Sr.

Chris was employed for 42 years at the Butler Eagle in the composing room.

A veteran of the U.S. Marines, he served during the Korean War.

He was a graduate of Butler High School, Class of 1950.

He was a lifelong member of the Saint Peter Roman Catholic Church and the former Saint Peter Men's Choir. He was an accomplished woodcrafter, who derived great joy from his many hours of making mantel clocks, Pinewood Derby cars, nativities, snowflakes and countless other woodworking projects. He was always quick with a story or a joke to brighten your day.

Chris is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anna R. Varrasso Stock. They were married on Sept. 27, 1958. He is also survived by two daughters, Carol Gallagher and her husband, Bruce, of Renfrew and Jean Schnur and her husband, Rege, of Butler; two sons, Christopher “Butch” Stock and his wife, Linda, of Renfrew and Bernie Stock and his wife, Rhonda, of Economy; one daughter-in-law, Julie Stock of Meridian, and one sister, Amelia McKivigan and her husband, Ed, of Ohio.

In addition, he is survived by 13 grandchildren, Amy, Lisa, Beth Ann, Chris, Holly, Jack, David, Madeline, Olivia, Andrew, Adam, Benjamin and Blake, and one great-granddaughter, Bree.

He was preceded in death by his son, Richard J. Stock, who passed away April 27, 2013, and one brother, Rege Stock.

STOCK — There will be no visitation for Christopher B. Stock Jr., who passed away Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013.A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated this morning at the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Harry Bielewicz officiating.Burial took place in Saint Peter's Cemetery.Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler.For more information, go to www.martinfh.net
