Violet E. (Corcoran) Andreas
Violet E. (Corcoran) Andreas, 90, of Allison Park, a former longtime resident of Greece, N.Y., which is a suburb of Rochester, passed away Sunday.
She was the loving wife of the late Norman D. Andreas; the beloved mother of Frederick Andreas, Kathleen (David) Douglass and Kristine Gisoni; the grandmother of Daniel (Kirsten) Douglass, Heather (Ryan) Wirtz, Matthew Gisoni and Michele (Daniel) Grant; the great-grandmother of McKenzie Wirtz, Madilyn Wirtz, Joseph Douglass and Owen Douglass, and the sister of Rose (Jack) Auer.
Violet was a proud alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh, having graduated later in life with a degree in liberal arts. She served several area churches over the years in many capacities and was a member of the Glade Run United Presbyterian Church. Having quite the musical talent, she was a 25-year cello player with the Butler County Symphony Orchestra and also sang in the Mendelssohn Choir. She was an excellent amateur artist, a former Girl Scout leader, and an animal lover. Even through her later years, she enjoyed bicycling, camping and skiing.
Andreas — The friends of Violet E. (Corcoran) Andreas, who passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, 1032 Perry Highway, Ross Township. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
