ZELIENOPLE — Northwest Savings Bank has donated $1,000 to the Friends of Zelienople Park.

The bank made the donation Oct. 17 as part of its ceremonial ribbon cutting at its new office at 118 S. Main St.

Chad Applequist, manager of the office, said, “Northwest supports its community. I can't think of a better way to give back to the community than to support our local park, which has been a source of wonderful memories for our town.”

Northwest has 166 offices in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and Maryland.

CRANBERRY TWP — Westinghouse Electric has signed an agreement with the Sebata Group of Companies of South Africa in preparation for the potential construction of Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear power plants in that country.François Harari, a Westinghouse vice president, said, “Westinghouse and Sebata Group will utilize their complementary skills in upcoming projects to further develop the expertise required for an eventual nuclear build project in South Africa.”Westinghouse has been active in South Africa's nuclear industry since the 1990s.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Sustainable Enterprise Accelerator will have a small business workshop from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Nov. 2.It will be at its office at 165 Elm St.The workshop will include guidance on business planning, financing options, marketing basics and legal aspects of starting a small business.Speakers include Huma Allen of Pittsburgh Score, Ray Miles of Ray Miles Creative, and John Golden, professor in the School of Business at Slippery Rock University.Attendees must register online at http://pittsburgh.score.org/localworkshops.
