Mary Ann Weibel
Mary Ann Weibel, 89, formerly of Oil City, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at The Caring Place in Franklin.
Born on April 6, 1924, in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Willis and Louise Rogit McCool.
Mrs. Weibel was a 1941 graduate of Oil City High School.
During World War II, she worked at the U.S. Army Ordinance Office in Oil City. When the war ended, she worked at the Pennsylvania State Employment office. After retiring in 1972, she worked for the Social Security Administration.
Mary Ann and her husband, Paul, wintered in Florida for 20 years. They were residents of Golf Lakes Estate in Bradenton for 15 of the 20 years. They sold their home and moved back to Oil City in 2008.
While living in Florida, She and her husband attended most of the Pirates spring training games.
She enjoyed traveling and took many escorted tours and cruises.
Mary Ann was a Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan, and enjoyed western square dancing, bridge and other card games.
She was a lifelong member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Trinity Women's Society.
Mary Ann was a member of the YWCA, Galavanter's Club and a former member of the Shin Diggers Square Dance Club.
On Nov. 15, 1966, she married William Gilbert, who preceded her in death on March 12, 1975.
On April 12, 1986, she was married to Paul A. Weibel, who survives.
In addition to her husband, Mary Ann is survived by one stepson, Joseph Weibel and his wife, Donna, of Charlotte, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Paula Curzi and her husband, Dan, of New Wilmington and Karen Simons and her husband, Steve, of Universal City, Texas; four step-grandchildren, Christopher Colvin and his wife, Christine, Nicole Stevens and her husband, James, Paul Nelson and Erica Nelson; and one step-great-granddaughter, Gwenyth Colvin.
In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Merle McCool.
WEIBEL — The friends of Mary Ann Weibel, who died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, may call at the Morrison Funeral Home, 110 Petroleum St., Oil City, from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday.Funeral services will be in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday.
