Charles English

Charles A. English, 83, of Butler died Saturday at the VNA Hospice in Butler.

He was born on June 24, 1930, in Oil City to the late Charles A. and Margaret Garvey English.

He was the husband of Ida Elder English. They were married July 26, 1952.

Charles worked as an insurance adjuster for the Motors Insurance Corp. He retired in 1980 after 25 years. He was a member of the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a graduate of Gannon University, where he was a founding father of Delta Sigma Pi Gamma Rho Chapter. Charles enjoyed socializing with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed having breakfast and Sunday dinners with his family.

Surviving are his wife; nine children, Teresa (William Cominos) English of Butler, John (Patte) English of Butler, Trina English of Butler, Karen (Craig) Diehl of Prospect, Charles (Karie) English of Brooks, Ky., Patrick (Kay) English of Butler, Jeffrey (Anita) English of Butler, Kris (Donna) English of Mt. Washington, Pa. and Kelly (David) Zaccari of Pegram, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren, Kacey (William) Bremer, Lindsay French, Sarah (David) Taylor, Adam Christy, Ila Hinchberger, Tina English, Ben English, Joseph English, Garret English, Elizabeth English, Phillip English, Charles English, Craig English, Dominik Fudoli, Nash Zaccari, Michael (Jennifer) Cominos, Dawna (Adam) Suman and Josie Zaccari; seven great-grandchildren, Riley and Ila Bremer, Marley Taylor, Jordan and Julie Cominos and Kamryn and Cooper Suman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas English; two sisters, Margaret Ward and Helen Bohn; three grandsons, Johnny French, Josh Baird and Zach Baird; and one great-granddaughter, Addyson Martin.

ENGLISH — The friends of Charles A. English, who died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to VNA Hospice or to a charity of the donor's choice.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
