Ernest Kropf of the Butler County Bowling Association has the lead in all-events handicapped for the 75-over age division of the Pennsylvania State Bowling Association Seniors Tournament.
Kropf’s handicapped score is 1,977. His actual all-events score is 1,476, which stands third.
Bud’s Auto Sales of the BCBA leads the team handicapped standings with a 2,757.
The tournament runs through November and is being hosted by Dutch and Clearview Lanes in Lancaster.
SRU soccer teams still among Top 25SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University women’s soccer team moved up to No. 15 in the national rankings this week. The men slipped to No. 23.SRU’s women (10-2-1) have won five straight games and have reached double digits in wins for the 16th straight season.The Rock men (10-2-1) suffered a 2-1 loss to No. 15 Mercyhurst last week.
McGraw assistant for women’s hoopsSLIPPERY ROCK — Mars graduate Bobby McGraw, a former volunteer assistant coach on the Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team, has been named the new assistant coach for the women’s team.McGraw spent three years as an assistant coach with the La Roche College men’s basketball team, helping that squad to a 44-12 record. He joined Kevin Reynolds’ SRU men’s staff last season.McGraw played two seasons of basketball at Butler County Community College.
Golf analyst offers Tiger apology Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee apologized to Tiger Woods after insinuating the world’s No. 1 player cheated during his five-win season.Chamblee saved Woods for last in his report card of 14 players in a column posted last week on Golf.com. He told of getting caught cheating on a math test in the fourth grade, and how the teacher crossed a line through his “100” and gave him an “F.”The 51-year-old Chamblee apologized in a series of posts on his Twitter account on Tuesday night.“My intention was to note Tiger’s rules infractions this year, but comparing that to cheating in grade school went too far,” he wrote.
