Rocco L. Puntureri
Rocco L. Puntureri, 77, loving husband and son, known to many as “Rock,” passed away Wednesday in the Grove City Medical Center after a brief illness.
The son of Rose Marie and Frank Puntureri, he was born on Sept. 6, 1936, in Grove City, where he lived his entire life.
After graduating from Grove City High School, he earned his bachelor of science degree from Notre Dame University in 1958, and his doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Notre Dame University School of Law in 1961. Thereafter, he devoted his many talents to three careers.
Following graduation from law school, he first practiced law in Grove City with the firm of Wherry & Ketler and thereafter as a partner in the firm of McBride, McBride & Puntureri. He was a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Mercer County bar associations.
Upon his father's death, he left the practice of law in 1968 to own and operate Puntureri Distributorship in Butler for 23 years.
Thereafter, he obtained his Pennsylvania Real Estate Broker's License and from 1993 until his death he was the owner and Broker of Record of Grove City Realty.
In his professional and personal life, he was loved and respected by all for his intelligence, diligence, kindness and selfless devotion to the needs of others.
He was a lifelong member of the Church of the Beloved Disciple Roman Catholic Church in Grove City and served faithfully for years on its finance committee. He was a leader in the church and devoted substantial time and talents to the construction of the new church building complex in Pine Township.
He was the chairman of the board of directors of George Junior Republic Realty, a member of the board of directors of the Pennsylvania George Junior Republic Parent Corp., a member of the Grove City Foundation Board of Directors and a member of the Grove City Chapter of Rotary International.
He is survived by his wife, the former Gail Jane Appel, who he married in 1969; an aunt, Phyllis Picciotto; a brother-in-law, Joseph Appel and his wife, Joan; a sister-in-law, Rose Marie Appel, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rose Marie Puntureri.
PUNTURERI — Calling hours for Rocco L. Puntureri, who passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Church of the Beloved Disciple, 1310 S. Center St. Ext., Grove City, with the Rev. Michael P. Allison and the Rev. Monsignor Edward Zeitler as co-celebrants.
