Bernard H. 'Bernie' Levin
Bernard H. “Bernie” Levin, 84, of Butler passed away at 11:57 p.m. Friday at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 16, 1929, in Butler to the late Joseph I. Levin and Minnie B. (Berman) Levin.
Mr. Levin was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany during the Korean War.
He owned and operated the L. & L. Auto Co. and L. & L. Glass & Paint Co. in downtown Butler. Bernie was a member and past president of Congregation B'nai Abraham, and a member of the Nathan H. Zeefe Lodge of B'nai Brith, the Jewish War Veterans and the William H. Miller Lodge No. 769 F&AM. Besides his family and many friends, he also enjoyed horse racing and blackjack.
Bernie was a great friend to all with an open and generous heart and a kind word for everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn B. Levin, who he married on Dec. 25, 1955; three sons, Scott Levin and his wife, Ronna, of Pittsburgh, Joseph Levin of Butler and Eric Levin and his wife, Michelle, of Butler; and five grandchildren, Katy and Erica Levin and triplets, Jordan, Marni and Kayla Levin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Levin, Pearl (Levin) Marlin and Sarah (Levin) Flam.
LEVIN — Funeral services for Bernard H. “Bernie” Levin, who passed away Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Congregation B'nai Abraham, 519 N. Main St., Butler, with Cantor Michal Gray-Schaffer of Congregation B'nai Abraham officiating.Burial will take place in the Congregation B'nai Abraham Cemetery in Butler.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, Butler.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to his beloved Congregation B'nai Abraham, 519 N.
