Edith Louise Hogg Parker

Edith Louise Hogg Parker of Hyde Park, N.Y., died Sunday on her 99th birthday.

She was born on Sept. 1, 1914, in Butler, and passed on Sept. 1, 2013, at Vassar Hospital, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., after a long and full life.

Edith was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was the daughter of Helen Charlotte Osgood Hogg and John Thompson Hogg of Connoquenessing.

Edith was a trained hairdresser, but spent her life involved in many organizations in her community and raising her children. Edith was an active member of the Hyde Park Reformed Church in New York.

Her husband, Clyde Parker, predeceased her on June 20, 1972.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brian John and Paula McCall Parker of Salt Point, N.Y., and their children, Brian John Jr. and his wife, Katharine Finn Parker, of Seattle and Scott Jamieson Parker of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; her daughter, Judith Lynn Parker of Wakefield, R.I., and her children, Lee Moore Barnum Tobey and her husband, Christopher Jon Tobey, of Upton Mass., Roy Cooper Barnum of Stratford, Conn., and L. Parker Barnum of New York City. She also is survived by five great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Calvin Hogg and John Alexander Hogg; her sisters-in-law, Mildred Hildemyer Hogg, Iona Esther Cunningham Hogg, Dorothy Parker Edwards and Ruth Parker Fair, and her brother-in-law, Robert Merrill Parker.
