SLIPPERY ROCK — The Tibetan Monks of Gaden Shartse Monastery will visit Slippery Rock and Saxonburg in October, speaking and performing at several events.

The Gaden Shartse Monastery was founded in Tibet in the 1400s as a learning center dedicated to developing practices of inner peace and compassion. Scheduled stops are:

12:30 p.m. Thursday, philosophy lecture, “Interdependence and Dependent Origination,” at the Spotts World Culture Auditorium at Slippery Rock University

7:30 p.m. Thursday, healing ritual at Ginger Hill Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 174 S. Main St.

Noon to 1 p.m. Friday, monks will lead SRU students, faculty and staff in a meditation in Patterson Hall at Slippery Rock University

7:30 p.m. Friday, the monks will perform “Journey to the Roof of the World: Sacred Dances and Chants of Tibet,” a cultural performance, in Swope Recital Hall at Slippery Rock University

11 a.m. Saturday, the monks will visit the Yoma Room Wellness Center in Saxonburg where they will perform an empowerment ritual

11 a.m. Sunday, the monks will discuss Tibetan Buddhism at Ginger Hill Unitarian Universalist Congregation's Sunday Service, 174 S. Main St.

CRANBERRY TWP — Psychic sisters, Suzanne Vincent and Jean MacKenzie Vincent, will give a lecture from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Cranberry Public Library. 2525 Rochester Road.The sisters, who have appeared on the “Psychic Investigators” series on the A&E Biography Channel, will discuss murder cases, local missing persons and ghost stories and hauntings.Attendees should take pictures of orbs or ghosts to discuss and a can of dog or cat food for the Butler County Humane Society.For reservations, call the library at 724-776-9100.

The Butler Public Library, 218 N. McKean St., will host Linda Graham-Greek from Rustic Acres Winery, who will present a program “Enjoying Wine” from 7 to 8 p.m. Oct. 17.The program will cover types of wine and how to pair wines with food.
