A year ago today

my youngest child was stolen away

I wish I could see you run, see you play

see you smile in that wry knowing way

in my minds eye you’re as clear as day

in last rights dust to dust we pray

assuring in the final place you lay

impermanent being will turn to clay

could our hearts speak they would say

we have captured your lights bright ray.
