JEFFERSON TWP — Concordia Lutheran Ministries will have a children’s Oktoberfest celebration from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at its campus at 148 Marwood Road.

There will be pony rides and a petting zoo, a hay ride, crafts, a bounce castle, face painting, pumpkin painting, games and fireworks.

Those 12 and younger will get free tickets for chicken tenders, a hot dog, bratwurst, a pulled pork sandwich or a Black Forest ham pretzel melt, a beverage or a Bavarian pretzel.

Zambelli Fireworks will launch a display at 7:45 p.m. behind Lund Care Center.

VA health fair planned in SarverSARVER — The Sarver Veterans Club, 641 Sarver Road, will host a VA health care and benefits day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.Free flu shots for veterans and blood pressure screenings will be given.Help will be available to enroll for VA health care benefits.A veterans benefits representative will be on hand to answer questions about compensation, pension, burial benefits, the GI Bill, VA home loans and more.Take a copy of military discharge papers (DD214) and 2012 financial information for accurate benefits counseling.

St. Peter’s slates yard sale SaturdayZELIENOPLE — St. Peter’s Reformed Church, 320 E. Grandview Ave., will have a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. There will be a bake sale and food available.Proceeds will benefit the Lexi Smith/MIRA USA “Paying It Forward” fund to purchase service dogs.

Oktoberfest event will benefit youthSAXONBURG — An Oktoberfest celebration to benefit at-risk youth will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Oct. 12 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St.The event will include a German food buffet, a yodeling contest and musical entertainment.Proceeds from the annual dinner will benefit the Winnie McGee Caring Fund at Glade Run Lutheran Services in Zelienople, which provides residential and off-site programs for more than 1,000 children and families annually.Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling the church office at 724-352-2333.
