Clarence “Butch” Anderson, 81, of Karns City passed away at 11:07 p.m. Tuesday at his home in the care of his family and VNA Hospice.

Born on Oct. 2, 1931, in Fenelton, he was the son of the late Susie Loveless Anderson and the late Carl Anderson.

He worked at Castle Rubber and in construction, having helped build the Concord Presbyterian Church. He also worked on the road crew for Concord Township and in strip mines. He was a lifetime farmer, which he enjoyed even after retirement.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, pitching horseshoes and table bowling.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Shirley Ann Anderson, who he married Aug. 8, 1953; three sons, Paul Anderson and his wife, Diane, of Karns City, Ronald Anderson and his wife, Cheryl, of Petrolia and James Anderson and his wife, Sherry, of Chicora; three daughters, Barbara Michael and her husband, Dennis, of Petrolia, Brenda Schrecengost and her husband, James, of Chicora and Sharon Anderson of Petrolia; one daughter-in-law, Darcy Anderson of Chicora; 14 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Shirley Geibel of Petrolia and Helen Frantz of Butler, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Michael J. Anderson; one son-in-law, Steve Saper, and two brothers, Leonard and Edward Anderson.

ANDERSON — Friends of Clarence “Butch” Anderson, who passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, will be received at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Kevin Channell of the Concord Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery.If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Butler VNA Hospice.
