PORTERSVILLE — A Portersville-based company will expand into Lawrence County, adding a 60,000-square-foot facility and 25 new jobs.

The Portersville Valve Co., with help from ValvTechnologies, will begin construction next year.

“Our team has an outstanding reputation for delivering specialized valve solutions to the pressure process industry,” said Todd Pozzuto, general manager at Portersville Valve, in a prepared statement. “With ValvTechnologies’ investment in our operation, we are confident that we will be the best-equipped, most experienced industrial valve sales and service organization in the mid-Atlantic region.”

The company has a 28,000-square-foot facility in Portersville, and serves customers in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland.

The new facility will be on 23 acres about five miles from the company’s Portersville headquarters. Although some workers will relocate to the new facility, the company will retain all of its current positions.

The new facility in Lawrence County is good news for that county’s economic development organization.

“We’re very pleased with the project,” said Linda Nitch, executive director with Lawrence County Growth Partnership. “It has been some time that site has been available for sale.”

She said the 23 acres have been vacant for more than a decade.

The construction is more than a $5 million investment including equipment and the land. The company plans to take out low-interest loans through the state to fund the project.

Gary Gandolfi of ValvTechnologies said in a prepared statement. “We’re looking forward to introducing more customers to ValvTechnologies’ zero-leakage, severe service valve products and services. With growing demands for both our companies products and services, particularly within the shale gas industry in the eastern United States, there are exciting opportunities for both companies.”

Portersville Valve also has a branch facility in New York.

ValvTechnologies, based in Houston, Texas, employs more than 500 people worldwide with offices in the United Kingdom, Europe, China, the Middle East, India, Australia and South America.
