City council on Thursday:
Authorized the city treasurer to buy a computer server replacement for $10,341 for tax recording software.
Changed the city’s dental insurance carrier from Guardian to MetLife. The change was made because MetLife offers better benefits for a lower price.
Awarded a contract to Bronder Technical Services for traffic signal maintenance for 2014 and 2015 at an annual cost of $30,352.
Ratified the collective bargaining agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police union for Jan. 1, 2012 through Dec. 31, 2014.
Directed the city clerk to seek proposals for limestone, asphalt, and petroleum products for 2014.
Accepted a bid from A.P. Wise Excavating for $2,300 for work to replace stone rip rap along the abutment of the Miller Street Bridge.
Approved the installation of no parking between signs at 107 Hickory St. and 310 N. Bluff St. on a 90 day trial.
