Scott Bacon Carbine

Scott Bacon Carbine, 26, of Butler, formerly of Boiling Springs, Pa., died Aug. 16 in his sleep at his home.

He was born on Nov. 19, 1986, in Dallas, Texas, to Elizabeth and Joe Carbine.

Scott spent his early childhood in Lewisville, Texas, until his family moved to Boiling Springs in 1996. A gifted student and avid reader, Scott was especially interested in writing, drawing, history, music and anything outdoors.

Scott graduated from Boiling Springs High School in 2005. He played running back for the junior varsity football team and was a member of the Yellow Breeches Middle School wrestling team. He was active in Troop 170 of the Boy Scouts of America and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 2004. A life-long Christian, Scott was active in the youth group at the Carlisle Evangelical Free Church. He attended Slippery Rock University.

Scott will be remembered for his intelligence, curiosity, and quirky humor, but especially for his sweet disposition, innate kindness, and extraordinary generosity of spirit. Scott loved his family and was profoundly loved in return. He was immensely proud of his younger brother, Kevin, who he adored.

Known as “Scooter” in his Butler community, Scott was an active member of the North Street Christian Church. Scott had wonderful friends, who perceived him as a joyful man willing to go out of his way to help them, whether their need was great or small. He experienced a life filled with an abiding love for others and those who knew Scott shared in that love. He was grateful for all that was given to him. His life mattered, and his loss is everywhere felt.

Scott is survived by his parents, Elizabeth and Joseph, and his brother, Kevin Carbine of Boiling Springs; grandparents, Donald and Barbara Bacon of Chevy Chase, Md., and Peggy Carbine of Philadelphia; aunts and uncles, Nancy and Hugh Carbine and Jane Pullam of Philadelphia and Peggy and Carey Fernes of Perrineville, N.J., as well as his many cousins who he always enjoyed.
