McElroy

Kathryn W. McElroy, 95, of King Avenue, New Castle, formerly of Pulaski, Pa., passed away Wednesday afternoon at her home.

She was born on June 8, 1918, in Widnoon, Pa., to the late Alvie and Bertha McGregor Gray.

On June 28, 1940, she married William J. McElroy, who preceded her in death.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Castle. Kathryn loved being with her grandchildren and attending their various activities. She also enjoyed camping.

Kathryn is survived by her three daughters, Linda Jones of New Castle, Deborah Shoaff and her husband, Matthew, of Pulaski Township and Kathy Anderson and husband, Mark, of Clermont, Fla.; a brother, Raymond Gray and his wife, Allene, of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Frances Clark of Saxonburg; a sister-in-law, Agnes Gray of East Brady; seven grandchildren, Brandy Starkey, Kristen Voland, Joshua Shoaff and Abby, Mark, Robert and Lisa Anderson; two step-grandchildren, Matt Schoaff and Scott Schoaff and their families; and three great-grandchildren, Addy, Brycen and Cayden Starkey.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Donald Jones; two brothers, William Gray and Lloyd Gray; and four sisters, Mildred Gray, Geneva Musser, Virginia Minich and Geraldine Rettig.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to the nurses of Jameson Hospice and to Brenda for their loving care.

MCELROY — Visitation for Kathryn W. McElroy, who passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, will be from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home, 3000 Wilmington Road, New Castle. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Llewellyn of the Hoover Heights Church officiating. Interment will take place at Castleview Memorial Gardens.
