Florence E. Burk, 65, of New Castle passed away Wednesday at her home.

Born on Aug. 5, 1948, in Butler, she was a daughter of Howard D. Claypoole Jr. and Elizabeth Finley Claypoole.

Florence is survived by her husband, Thomas Burk, at home.

She attended Moniteau High School and Mohawk High School. Florence was a housekeeper with Microtel and a caretaker for the mentally challenged. She enjoyed frequenting flea markets, casinos and playing bingo. Florence attended the Harmony Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Joann and Wade Bissett, Jean and William Anderson and Dawn and Joseph Rendes, all of New Castle; two sons, Dennis J. Burk Sr. and his wife, Brenda, and Shawn Burk and his wife, Lynda, all of New Castle; one brother, Ronald D. Claypoole Sr. of New Castle; two sisters, Myrtle Callen and Jean Keidel, both of New Castle; 15 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother; one sister, Bessie Stoner, and three nephews, Bruce Callen, Robert Stoner, and Daniel Everly.

BURK — Visitation for Florence E. Burk, who passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Hockenberry officiating. Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
