Richard G. “Dick” Dickson, 81, of Butler went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on Feb. 11, 1932, in Penn Township, the son of the late Samuel S. and Anna (Smith) Dickson.

Richard attended the Community Alliance Church.

He retired from Pullman Standard and was a former president of Local Union 1415 (USWA). He also worked for Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad.

He enjoyed playing horseshoes, winning many tournaments, and he loved playing baseball.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of many years, Ruth B. (Butler) Dickson of Butler; two daughters, Darlene R. (John) Gerberich of Butler and Susan L. (Eugene) Pritts of Roanoke, Va.; three sons, David L. (Anna) Dickson of Butler, Richard M. (Marlene) Dickson of Butler and Randall E. (Susan) Dickson of Butler; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Velma Jean (Clair) Dreher of Butler and Anita G. Bowser of Chicora; and a brother, George S. Dickson of Butler.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Derek Dickson, and his brother-in-law, Eugene Bowser.

DICKSON — Friends of Richard G. “Dick” Dickson, who passed away Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Dr. Dennis Krajacic of the Community Alliance Church officiating. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Butler.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Deacon's Fund, the Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road, Butler, PA 16001.For more information, go to www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
