Judge dismisses hazing charges for 3 Pa. pupils

UPPER ST. CLAIR — A district judge has dismissed charges against three juveniles who were accused of hazing incoming freshmen boys.

Upper St. Clair police filed the charges Aug. 9 after cell phone video surfaced of the freshmen being spanked with wooden boards and hockey sticks while their pants were down.

Senior Judge Eugene Zielmanski, Police Chief Douglas Burkholder and Upper St. Clair School District Superintendent Patrick O’Toole have yet to comment on Monday’s decision.

Some parents say as many as 40 of 180 incoming freshmen were hazed.
