Betty Cozad

Betty Mae Cozad, 84, of Harrisville, formerly of Collegeview Towers, Grove City, passed away at 12:33 p.m. Wednesday at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, following an illness since January.

She was born on March 28, 1929, in Grove City, to William Arthur Carnahan and Lillian Edith Kerr Carnahan.

She married Robert H. Cozad on Jan. 27, 1951. He passed on Dec. 31, 1991.

She was a homemaker. Betty graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1947. She was very family oriented; her children and grandchildren were her life. She was a devoted Christian.

Survivors include four daughters, Karen Busi and her husband, Peter, of Slippery Rock, Sue Buchanan and her husband, Chuck, of Mercer, Luanne Gills of Morston, Fla., and Yvette Frampton and Ted Prorok of Harrisville; two sons, Mark Cozad and his wife, Peggy, of Clintonville, Pa., and Steve Cozad and his wife, Laura, of Forestville. One brother, Donald M. Carnahan and his wife, Marcia, of Slippery Rock, 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Marilyn Buckley, and two brothers, Robert and William Carnahan.

COZAD — A memorial service for Betty Mae Cozad, who passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, will be at the Branchton United Methodist Church, 490 Branchton Road, Slippery Rock, at 11 a.m. Aug. 31 with the Rev. Loren McQueen, pastor of the church, officiating.Burial will be at Findley Cemetery, Findley Township, Mercer.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Cunningham Funeral Home, Grove City.Memorial tributes may be given in Betty's memory to City Rescue Mission, 319 S. Croton Ave., New Castle, PA 16101.
