Joseph Schubert

Joseph Mathew Schubert, 76, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Zelienople, passed away Wednesday while under the care of the Hospice of Dayton.

Born on May 9, 1937, in Braddock, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Mary (Ursin) Schubert.

Catholic by faith, Joseph was a devoted member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Ohio. Joseph was a 1956 graduate of Hopewell High School and went on to attend college at Slippery Rock University and San Jose State University in California.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.

He enjoyed his work as a computer programmer for both Computer Science Corporation (CSC) and Westinghouse.

Joseph was a true outdoors man who loved hunting, fishing and walking. In addition, he was a fan of Auto Racing, including NASCAR.

Joseph was known to be a private man but maintained closeness to his family as a loving brother and uncle.

He is survived by his siblings, Charles M. Schubert and his wife, Joan, of McMurray, Pa., Eleanor R. Schubert of Carlsbad, Calif., and Jane E. Schubert of Pitcairn, Pa.; a stepsister, Lynne Schubert; stepbrother, David Schubert; and his nieces and nephews, Kimberly, Lisa, Chas (CJ), Krissy, Stephanie, Sarah and Joey.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Cole Mulvaney.

Schubert — Friends of Joseph Mathew Schubert, who passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, 219 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Gregory Catholic Church, 2 W. Beaver St., Zelienople, with Father Lawrence R. Smith, celebrant.
