John P. Lucovich
John P. Lucovich, 85, of Sarver passed away Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
Born March 19, 1928, in Lowellville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Matulja) Lucovich.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. John was a supervisor at the Butler County Mushroom Farm (Moonlight Mushroom) for 42 years, retiring in 1985. Prior to the mushroom farm, he worked at PPG in Creighton and also the Bantam Jeep Factory in Butler.
He was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot, the People Encouraging Polkas (P.E.P.) in Springdale and the American-Slovenian Citizens Association in Cheswick. John enjoyed polka music, gardening, family get-togethers, Pittsburgh Pirates baseball and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his loving children, Daniel (Karen) Lucovich of Sarver, David (Donna) Lucovich of Inman, S.C., Dennis (Becky) Lucovich of Stonington, Conn., and Elaine (Gary) Brevko of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Joseph Lucovich of Worthington, Peter (Rosemarie) Lucovich of Mississippi and Frank Lucovich of Ft. Worth, Texas; his sisters, Rose Morrow of Natrona Heights and Mary (Bill) Majetich of Newbury, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Antoszyk) Lucovich, who passed away on Jan. 30, 2009; three sisters, Ruby Krchnavy, Elizabeth Logan and Ann Schrecengost; and one brother, Marion Lucovich.
LUCOVICH — Friends of John P. Lucovich, who died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph R.C. Church with the Rev. Ward Stakem, OFM Cap., officiating.
