Robert A. Vargo

Robert A. Vargo, 86, of Aliquippa passed away Saturday in his home.

Born Sept. 19, 1926, in Butler, he was a son of the late Alex and Mary (Hunka) Vargo.

Mr. Vargo retired as a foreman of the seamless tube department of LTV Steel and he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II aboard the USS Manokin.

He was a member of the Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Aliquippa and the Aliquippa Ukrainian Club.

Surviving are his beloved and devoted wife of 60 years, Irene (Rusinko) Vargo; a daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Andre Bernola of Raccoon Township; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert M. and Alla Vargo of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Michael (Allison) Vargo, Stephen Vargo and Christy Bernola; a sister, Elizabeth Keller of Florida; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Vargo.

VARGO — Friends of Robert A. Vargo, who passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Tatalovich Funeral Home, 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa, where a service will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in the Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church-Aliquippa with Father Michael Poloski, his pastor, officiating.Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery at 11:30 a.m., where the Beaver County Special Unit will conduct military honors.A Parastas blessing service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.The family would like to thank the staff of Mother Teresa Hospice for all of their kindness and loving care.
