Barbara E. Hemphill
Barbara E. Hemphill, 70, of Butler passed away Thursday at 9:52 p.m. at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Jan. 17, 1943, in Butler to the late Fern L. (Kyle) Bell.
Mrs. Hemphill was a graduate of Moniteau High School and worked at the former Hot Dog Shop, Bobbi Brooks, Grahams Nursing Home and Olan Mills. She was a member of the Country Music Association and the East Butler Fireman’s Club. She enjoyed dancing to country music and the oldies, and bowling. Over the years, she was involved with many bowling leagues.
Mrs. Hemphill is survived by one daughter, Sherri L. Hemphill of Butler; and her cat, Squeak.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Hemphill Sr., who she married Aug. 17, 1963, and who passed away Aug. 12, 1990; her son, James R. Hemphill Jr.; her stepfather, Chester L. Bell; and her cat, Casper.
HEMPHILL — Friends of Barbara E. Hemphill, who died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, will be received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. William Jamieson officiating.
Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.
