Frederick R. Dalak

Frederick R. Dalak, 87, of Clinton Township died Tuesday at his home.

He was born on Jan. 28, 1926, in Pittsburgh to the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dalak.

A U.S. Navy veteran, he served as a radarman 3rd class aboard the USS Nelson and the USS Montauk during World War II.

Fred lived in Clinton Township for the past 48 years. He worked for the former Iron City Beer Co. in Pittsburgh for more than 40 years, retiring as the business manager for the union Local 144.

He was a member of the VFW in Saxonburg and enjoyed farming, oil painting, the thrill of bargain hunting, buying cars and other collectibles, and especially spending time with his girls and their families.

Survivors include his girls, Phyllis Georgic of Scottdale, and Linda Dalak, Christine (William) Mitchell and Evelyn (Joseph) Berry, all of Clinton Township; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Elsie Wirkowski of Pittsburgh.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (Przreracki) Dalak in March 2011, two sisters and a brother.

DALAK — The family of Frederick R. Dalak, who died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road Russellton, West Deer Township. The parting prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with a Christian funeral Mass following in Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. James Holland will officiate.
