Madeline Regis, 88, of Cranberry Township passed away Monday while under the care of the UPMC Passavant Cranberry Place.

Born Aug. 30, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Helen (Miller) Proie.

Madeline married her late husband, William Regis, in 1945 and received her degree in nursing before raising her three daughters and becoming a full-time mother and housewife. For a time, she also worked for her husband’s heating and air conditioning business, where she handled the books. An avid reader, Madeline also had a love for animals, raising and selling German Shepherds, caring for canaries in their home aviary, as well as beehives and horses. She also enjoyed gardening vegetables, plants and flowers.

Madeline is survived by her daughters, Kitty Regis of Mississippi and Kim Butler of Cranberry Township; her brother, Fred Proie and his wife, Norma, of Pittsburgh; her stepsister, Jo Anne McCormick and her husband, Chuck, of Mars; her five grandchildren, Shawn Kellerman, Terrie Hall, Kerry Ladnier, Aaron Butler and Moriah Butler; and her six great-grandchildren, Raven Hall, Cory and Kelly Ladnier and Lexi, Deanna and Jaydee Butler.

In addition to her parents, Madeline was preceded in death by her husband, William Regis, who died in 1980, and her daughter, Kathleen Kellerman, who died in 2010.

REGIS — Friends of Madeline Regis, who passed away Monday, July 22, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.A funeral ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Andrew Shaffer officiating. She will be laid to rest at Pinewood Memorial Gardens, Cranberry Township.If desired, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053, or to the charity of the donor's choice.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Madeline's family at www.glennkildoofuneralhome.com.
