Joan Carr Woods
Joan Carr Woods, 82, longtime resident of Valencia, died Saturday at St. the John Specialty Care Center in Mars with her family by her side.
Born in Pittsburgh on Valentine’s Day, 1931, she was the daughter of the late John G. and Bella Patrick Carr.
Joan attended Ohio University from 1949 through 1951, before living in Marathon, Fla.
Joan was an active member of the Valencia Historical Society and the D.A.R. She loved reading, antiquing, genealogy, fishing and the ocean. She had attended cooking class at the Green Briar.
Joan was the executive assistant for Mr. Kaiser School of Dance and was a host family for A.F.S.
Mrs. Woods was the executrix of the Helen Spaid Albig Trust Endowment of the Pittsburgh Foundation and as such was responsible for the financing of the design construction of the completion of the Helen Spaid Albig Adoption Center at the Butler County Humane Society.
Surviving is her husband of 51 years, William R. Woods, who she married June 15, 1962, living in Richland Township for a year then moving to Valencia; a daughter, Maggi Crouthamel and her husband, Dave, of Valencia; and a step-grandson, Daniel Crouthamel.
WOODS — Friends of Joan Carr Woods, who died Saturday, July 20, 2013, will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave. Mars from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
