Rodeo rides into town

Bareback bronc rider Mark Kreder hangs on for his eight second ride at the North Washington Rodeo in 2012. The 54th rodeo will open Tuesday.

The North Washington Volunteer Fire Department presents its 54th annual professional rodeo from Tuesday through Aug. 24 at the Rodeo Arena, 2225 Oneida Valley Road. It is billed as “the Rodeo Capital of the East.”

The rodeo will be held at 8 p.m. each day, rain or shine.

The kickoff parade will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

New this year will be a free concert each night before the rodeo starts.

Musical entertainment will include:

Mikayla Lynn and Isaac Cole, inspirational country music, Aug. 19 and 24

In Transition, country gospel music, Aug. 20

Andrew Mack, Aug. 21

Hunter Cook, country music, Aug. 22

Charee White, Aug. 23.

Gates open at 6 p.m. with concerts at 6:30 p.m.

Admission at the gate is $14 for adults and $6 for children ages 4 to 12. In advance, tickets are $12 and $5, respectively.

Rodeo events include bareback bronc riding, calf roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, cowgirls’ barrel racing, cowgirls’ breakaway roping, team roping and bull riding.

Dinners are served daily from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the North Washington Social Hall, in addition to concessions.
