A free outdoor discovery program, hosted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, will feature “How Does Your Garden Grow?” at 7 p.m. today in the Carousel Shelter at Alameda Park.
Moraine State Park has kayak programs including a “Full Moon Paddle” from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, and an entry-level “Silver Paddle” from 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 27. Participants can take their kayaks or borrow one at the park. Participants should be at least 9 years old and an adult needs to accompany anyone younger than 18. Call 724-368-8811 to register.
Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. The trails are open from sunrise to sunset. Call 724-794-6011.
McConnells Mill State Park in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County, will have Mill Cleanup Day on Saturday. The mill is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays, Saturday and Sundays. Tours, which last about 45 minutes, are available at 1 and 3 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Call 724- 368-3612.
