Four local golfers have earned Player of the Year honors on the U.S. Kids Golf Pittsburgh Tour this summer.

Lihini Ranaweera won the honor for girls 7-under, Mars' Casey Morrow for girls 12-14, Butler's Henry Bartony III for boys age 12 and Paige Scott for girls 8-9.

Finishing among the top five in points in their respective divisions were Cory Voltz (boys 9) and Jimmy Ellis (boys 13-14) of Butler, Natalie Welsh of Valencia (girls 12-14), Adam Gehm of Harmony (boys 6), Wyatt Kos of Cabot (boys 7), Noah Kumar of Mars (boys 11) and Troy Loughry of Grove City (boys 12).

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team is No. 17 in the Division II preseason national rankings.The Rock joins No. 7 West Chester as the only teams in the Atlantic Region ranked in the Top 25. SRU was 14-6-3 last year under veteran coach Noreen Herlihy, who has posted 17 consecutive winning seasons.
