Janet Hollack Baycura, 89, of Butler passed away Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Janet was born Jan. 16, 1924, in Lyndora to Frank and Anastasia Hollack.

She married Peter Baycura on Oct. 2, 1943, in Detroit, Mich. She attended Butler High School and graduated in 1942. She received an associate in arts degree from Butler County Community College in 1977 graduating Summa Cum Laude. She attended nursing and continuing education classes at Butler County Community College from 1978 to 1980.

She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for the PA Economy League, the Bantam Car Co. in Butler from 1942-1943, a secretary for the University of Michigan English Department in Ann Arbor, Mich., from 1943 to 1944, a bookkeeper for Coal Operators in Butler from 1944 to 1946, a secretary for the Supreme Manufacturing Co. in Pittsburgh from 1946 to 1947, a secretary for Pittsburgh National Bank in Butler in 1953, a bookkeeper and office manager for Peter Baycura & Associates from 1948 to 1994, an Avon representative from the late 1970s to the early 1990s and a VNA Hospice visitor from 1996 to 2005.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband Peter in 1996. Also preceding her in death were five brothers and one sister, Andy Hollack of Warren Mich., Bill Hollack of Lyndora, Harry Hollack of Butler, Mary Blissak of Butler, and Mike Hollack of Jacksonville, Fla., and a brother who passed away at birth.

She is survived by one sister, Ann Amoroso of Cleveland, Ohio; five children, Jeanne Miller of South Burlington, Vt., Dianne Onnen of Squim, Wash., David Baycura of Atlanta, Ga., Mary Seibel of Slippery Rock and John Baycura of Butler; nine grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Baycura — Friends of Janet Hollack Baycura, who passed away Friday, July 12, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 105 Kohler Ave., Lyndora. The Rev. Leo Schlosser, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Butler.Parastas services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
