Heavy and sustained rains Thursday closed one road and flooded another road in the county, according to Butler County Emergency Services.

The closed road was Spring Street in Chicora, at the Pine Ridge Drive intersection.

The Chicora and Eau Clair volunteer fire departments responded to the 911 call at 6:32 p.m. Crews cleared the scene at 10:40 p.m.

West Slippery Rock Road in Fairview Township also was flooded, but there was no report of it being closed.

Both roads are now open.

Dispatchers also received five calls for flooded basements between Karns City and Chicora.

The National Weather Service reports 1.5 to 1.75 inches of rain fell in the northeast part of the county from Thursday morning through this morning.

The forecast calls more rain today with improving weather over the weekend.
