Corpse flower set to bloom

PITTSBURGH — One of the world’s rarest, largest and smelliest flowers, the legendary corpse flower, is set to bloom in late August at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens at 1 Schenley Park.

Affectionately named “Romero” after horror film director George Romero, whose 1968 cult classic “Night of the Living Dead” was filmed in and around Pittsburgh, Phipps’ corpse flower is now on display in the Palm Court, where it will stay until it blooms.
