Edmund C. 'Ed' Murray

Edmund C. “Ed” Murray, 87, of Zelienople passed away Wednesday while under the care of the UPMC Passavant Hospital.

Born on May 10, 1926, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Edmund and Winifred (Dawson) Murray.

Ed proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War.

In 1987, Ed retired from MSA after 34 years of dedicated work. He was a member of the St. Gregory Catholic Church in Zelienople, the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus Council. Ed enjoyed golfing, playing card games with his family, going to the casino and taking walks.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris (Rader) Murray; his sons, Edmund P. Murray and his wife, Karen, of Zelienople, Daniel J. Murray of Ohio, Roger M. Murray of Zelienople, Douglas E. Murray of Butler and Timothy F. Murray and his wife, Diane, of Allison Park; affectionately known as “Pappy” to his seven grandchildren, Nicole Bouris and her husband, Timothy, Tyler Murray, Benjamin Murray, Stephen Murray, Luke Murray, Ryan Murray and Julia Murray.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Regina Reismeyer, Jeanette Stein and Winifred Thomas.

MURRAY — The family of Edmund C. “Ed” Murray, who passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Gregory Catholic Church, 2 W. Beaver St., Zelienople, with Fr. Lawrence R. Smith, celebrant.He will be laid to rest with military honors at the St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in Zelienople.If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Ed's honor in support of the St. Gregory Catholic Church, 2 West Beaver St., Zelienople, PA 16063.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the Murray family at www.boylanfuneralhome.com
