SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock Lions Club will sponsor the “Touch a Truck” program from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 3 in the Slippery Rock High School football stadium parking lot, 201 Keister Road.

The event will allow children of all ages to get inside fire trucks, ambulances, military vehicles, tractor-trailer trucks and other vehicles. A medical helicopter also will land and be available for inspection.

Proceeds go to sight and hearing conservation projects supported by the Slippery Rock Lions Club.

SLIPPERY ROCK — A benefit for treatment costs for Sue Zanicky, who is battling breast cancer, will be Aug. 3 at the Slippery Rock Dunes, 144 Barron Road.The Legend Riders of Butler County will start the event with a riders' registration from 9 to 11 a.m. A mandatory safety briefing will be at 11:15 a.m., and kickstands will go up at 11:30 a.m. for a 90- to 100-mile ride.Beginning at 3 p.m. there will be music, horseback rides for kids, volleyball, horseshoes, face painting, a 50-50 raffle and a spaghetti dinner.Donations for the Sue Zanicky Fund also will be accepted by PNC Bank, 108 Moraine Point Plaza.For more information, call Debbie at 724-482-2608.

EVANS CITY — The 75th Marburger Family Reunion will be Aug. 24 at the Marburger Pavilion, 1512 Mars-Evans City Road, for descendents of John Marburger (1854-1925) and Mary Magdalene Wahl Marburger (1858-1943).Lunch will be at 1 p.m. Take a dish to pass.
