Melissa Ann Sweesy, 43, of Butler passed away at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

She was born Jan. 27, 1970, in Butler to Nancy (Vogel) Murray and the late J.L. Sweesy.

Melissa was a graduate of Butler High School and Butler County Community College, where she received an associate degree. She was a self-employed income tax preparer. Melissa enjoyed needlework and leatherwork.

Melissa is survived by her mother, Nancy (Vogel) Murray; her partner, Mark Kersey; two sons, Erik Rose of Butler and Andrew J. Haid of Butler; one brother, Walter J. Sweesy of Meadville, Pa.; one sister, Patricia M. Collins and her husband, Larry, of Butler; three nieces, Heather Sweesy and her husband, David Van Doren, Sarah Collins and Laura Collins and her husband, Dennis Taylor; and one nephew, Steve Collins.

She was preceded in death by her father, J.L. Sweesy.
