Butler's Herald returns
Matt Peters extended his hitting streak to 15 games and Butler graduate Cody Herald returned from an injury, but the Butler BlueSox fell to West Virginia 4-3 in Prospect League action at Pullman Park Monday night.
Peters went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and also drove in a run in the loss. Herald went 0-for-3 in his return to the field after suffering seven fractures in the right side of his face after fouling off a pitch June 14.
Jordan Schwartz got the loss in relief for Butler (25-19), surrendering a run in the top of the eighth inning to break a 3-3 deadlock.
Russell Clark also had a pair of hits for the BlueSox, who are off until Thursday during the Prospect League All-Star Break.
Slippery Rock 3, Lorain County 2 — Tyler Wilson struck out nine in six scoreless innings as the Sliders nipped the Ironmen at Jack Critchfield Park.
Ryne Clark had a pair of hits and scored two runs for Slippery Rock (19-25).
The Sliders will be off until Thursday when they host Richmond at Critchfield Park.
