Bears grab first place

The Butler County Bears moved into first place in the Superior Division of the Ohio Football League with a 17-0 victory over the Greensburg Panthers Saturday night.

Jason Majocha booted a 37-yard field goal as time expired in the first half, snapping a scoreless tie. Karns City graduate Erik Fuhrer threw touchdown passes of 16 yards to Seneca Valley graduate Brian Perry and 82 yards to KC grad Stephon Conto in the second half.

Fuhrer completed 10 of 26 passes for 170 yards for the Bears (6-2). He has thrown for 611 yards and 10 TDs this season.

Conto leads the Bears in receiving with 16 catches for 352 yards and five touchdowns while Perry has 13 catches for 115 yards and three scores. Antawane Davis has caught 10 passes for 230 yards and two TDs.

Randall Palakavich paced the Bears defensively Saturday with 6.5 tackles and 1.5 quarterback sacks. Karns City graduate Justin Switzer leads the team in tackles this season with 52, including 42 solo stops.

The Bears have two regular season games remaining, including 7 p.m. this Saturday against the Strabane Spartans at Butler’s Memorial Park. Admission is free.
