BlueSox, Sliders salvage splits
LORAIN, Ohio — GJ Senchak tossed six scoreless innings, striking out eight, as Butler salvaged a split of a doubleheader against Lorain County, 5-0, in Prospect League action Thursday night.
Senchak struck out eight and didn’t walk a batter in the victory, the left-hander’s first of the season.
The BlueSox took advantage of five Ironmen errors in the win.
Ryan Fitzgerald had two hits, including a double, as Butler scored three runs in the sixth to put the game away.
Matt Peters had a pair of hits in a 5-4 loss in the first game, including a double. Fitzgerald and Tyler Detmer also had extra-base hits in the loss.
Peters had a hit in each of the game to extend his hitting streak to 11.
Brett Sullivan went the distance, giving up five runs, four earned, in six innings.
Butler (22-18) will return home to face Chillicothe tonight.
Slippery Rock-Richmond doubleheader — Matt Calhoun hit his fifth home run of the season as Slippery Rock took the second game of a doubleheader, 9-2, over Richmond at Jack Critchfield Park.
Storm Wilson and Grant Zawadzki each added doubles for the Sliders.
Matt Riggs picked up the win, striking out four and not walking a batter in 5 2-3 innings of work.
The Sliders (17-23) dropped a 3-2 decision in the opener.
Zach Strecker went the distance in the loss, striking out three and not issuing a walk. Just one of the three runs he surrendered were earned.
Wilson had a pair of hits in the defeat.
