Meridian, CT post victories

Top-seeded Meridian overcame a two-run deficit in the fifth inning to topple West Sunbury 16-9 in the opening round of the Butler County legion baseball playoffs on Tuesday.

Meridian managed eight runs in the fifth as Matt Dowdy, Adam Schaffner and Jake Koerner each hit a home run. Jesse Savisky went 4-for-5 with two runs batted in for the victors.

Josh Stockert led West Sunbury with three hits, including a two-run homer.

• Boo Lokhaiser allowed just one run on two hits in 6 1-3 innings pitched in Center Township’s 6-1 win over Saxonburg.

Kyle Campbell paced Center’s offense with two base hits, a run scored and two RBI, while Ryan Vero singled twice and scored twice.

• Hunter Balliet, Spencer Voltz and Tyler Smith each singled for Saxonburg.

Results for the matchup between second-seeded East Butler and seventh-seeded Valley were unavailable.
